About a month ago I received an e-mail from a Dutch artist from Uden, Antoon Versteegde, who informed other artists about the fact, that on April the 19th of the year 1600 a Dutch ship "De Liefde" entered the Japanese coast.
This artist wants to celebrate the first encounter of the Japanese people and the Dutch by means of the making of a huge bamboo wheel. He is not the only one who makes such a wheel, also in Japan his colleague artist called MANTA wants to make the same wheel. Both wheels represent the friendship and love between both nations. Antoon asked other artists who have an Internetsite to join them and come with ideas.
MANTA and Antoon want their artworks to fly. Then I got an idea. Let Japanese and Dutch Sidhas simultaneous fly in their own countries during the same time. We in the morning and they in the evening. So, we at half past ten and they at half past five (There is 7 hours difference.) We do it as a token of friendship, getting to know each other. We can make a banquet of Japanese food and have afterwards music from Japan, or a tea ceremony or something else.
Furthermore I want some Dutch artists to paint on a T-shirt, the pictures can be about peace, donate it make a photo of it and send it to me. I will forward the T-shirts all together to Japan. Japan can do the same. The artists can put the photos at their Internetsites. Those sites we can link together.
Some of us can wear these T-shirts during the Sidhi-program. Both groups make a photo of the group of Sidhas wearing the T-shirts. We can afterwards exhibit the photos in the Gallery of the "Kunstkring": The Vegetarian Restaurant and some T-shirts.
The first contact with Japanese Sidhas are now taking place.We hope a lot Japanese and - Dutch Sidhas will come and join us. The best date would be 24th of April when most people have a holiday. (Easter Monday). It depends on the possibilities the Japanese people have.
